20% Theatre Company, “Spark,” Sound Designer (w/Carpentry/Lighting/Prop Assistance), Jan-Feb 2018 (Collaboraction, Chicago, IL)

Had a fulfilling experience working as sound designer for 20% Theatre Company in this production of “Spark” by Caridad Svitch. I added a personal touch to this play with many of my original field recordings taken in France (TempsZero Residency), Virginia (Virginia Center for the Creative Arts), Arkansas, Florida (Atlantic Center for the Arts), and Illinois. Besides a variety of birds, proximity recordings of various Orthoptera (mostly Tettigoniidae) and Hemipterans (Cicadoidea) were taken, such as Amblycorypha oblongifolia, Neoconocephalus ensiger, Pterophylla camellifolia, and others. Many of these insects were captured for purposes of recording and then set free. A number of frogs can also be heard. Most of the thunder and rain was recorded in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and Savoy, Illinois.
